Writing Graphic Organisers

These thinking tools play an important role in developing better thinking processes and the skills necessary for creating more sophisticated  text types. Differentiation: source a variety of graphic organisers. Providing  a set of templates that are developmental sequences help support varying stages of the writing process and the varying levels of ability. The templates increase content  knowledge and build skills. Once you have assessed students’ skills in a particular writing type, then you can plan to use a variety of organisers that support the range of ability in your classroom. The weaker the skill, the greater the need for highly scaffolded support in this form. Some writers may need to stay in sequential organsiers as they move from the planning stage to drafting.
